On the evening of December 23, Hoi An Dong Ward Police (Da Nang City) said that they had quickly investigated and clarified the subject who committed the theft worth 249 million VND, recovered all the evidence and returned it to the victims.
Previously, the unit received a report from Ms. D.T.M (residing in Phuoc Tan Residential Group, Hoi An Dong Ward) about the theft of property including necklaces and gold rings with a total weight of 19 taels of gold 97.
Immediately after receiving the information, Hoi An Dong Ward Police urgently deployed forces, synchronously applying professional measures to investigate and prosecute the subject. After only 4 hours of receiving the report, the police identified and clarified that the person who committed the theft was Doan Thi Thanh (born in 1980, residing in Hoi An Tay ward, Da Nang city).
Working with the police, Doan Thi Thanh confessed that on the morning of December 22, Thanh drove to Ms. M.'s house to take the victim to her biological father's house to eat porridge. When Mrs. M. stayed, Thanh returned to Mrs. M.'s house, went straight into the bedroom, opened the wooden compartment at the bedside and discovered an iron box with a lock hook but not locked.
"In the box with gold and cash, I took all the gold, left the money and arranged everything as before and returned to take Ms. M. home," Thanh confessed to the investigation agency. After that, Thanh brought the gold to sell, earning about 249.5 million VND.
A representative of Hoi An Dong Ward Police said that all the misappropriated assets have been fully recovered, and the authorities are consolidating the case file to handle the subject in accordance with the provisions of the law.
