According to Lao Dong reporters on the evening of September 6 and September 7, due to concerns that storm No. 3 would cause heavy rain, people living and doing business in the area of adjacent houses along Hoang Tung Street (An Khanh, Hoai Duc, Hanoi) used many types of materials to reinforce their houses before storm No. 3 made landfall.
According to observations, in areas where flooding often occurs when Hanoi has heavy rain, as soon as there were recommendations from authorities to respond to storm No. 3, people prepared many plans to prevent and combat it.
Mr. Vo Xuan Vinh - a resident of this urban area - shared that in previous heavy rains, if not covered, water would have flooded the basement.
“Things like motorbikes, refrigerators, and washing machines were all broken. Therefore, when we heard that the storm was about to hit, my family quickly packed sandbags to block the tunnel entrance last night (September 6),” Vinh confided.
Ms. Le Thi Hoa - a resident of the urban area - said that every time there is a prolonged heavy rain, the Geleximco urban area is flooded. Families or people renting adjacent houses here have to use iron sheets to prevent water from entering the basement every time there is a prolonged heavy rain. If houses do not block the basement, the water will flood up to the road surface.
In fact, Geleximco urban area has been flooded many times during heavy rains. Most recently, on July 23, due to the influence of storm No. 2, after only one day of heavy rain, the roads leading to Geleximco urban area were deeply flooded and submerged in water all day.
At that time, many adjacent houses were deeply submerged in water, making it difficult for people in this area to move around.
According to Lao Dong reporters, currently, many townhouses and villas in Geleximco urban area are being offered for sale at prices ranging from 20-40 billion VND/unit, depending on location and area. The rental price for business premises also fluctuates between 30-50 million VND/month.
