In recent years, the teaching staff has been given attention in many aspects such as salary regime, seniority allowance, allowance for work in particularly difficult areas, border areas, creating conditions to improve professional qualifications, skills, investing in building spacious schools and classrooms to ensure better teaching and learning.
However, currently, a part of teachers in the area, especially teachers in remote areas, are facing many difficulties in the issue of teachers' housing.
According to National Assembly Delegate (NAD) Be Minh Duc (Cao Bang Delegation), currently the whole province of Cao Bang only has 1,523 public housing units and still lacks up to 738 standard 24m2 teachers for one teacher, with a construction cost of 200 million VND/unit equivalent to nearly 150 billion VND and 185 collective houses for 4 standard 24m2 teachers with an estimated cost of over 36 billion VND.
The draft Law on Teachers is seeking opinions on the proposal to supplement the policy of renting public housing for teachers; at the same time, it is proposed to supplement the policy of supporting housing rental for teachers when working in disadvantaged areas.
Regarding the policy of supporting collective housing and renting public housing for teachers (Article 26), taking into account the opinions of National Assembly deputies, the draft Law is revised in the direction of stipulating that teachers are entitled to the policy of renting public housing according to the provisions of the law on housing or are guaranteed collective housing when working in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, border areas, islands and areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions.
At the same time, it is supplemented with regulations that in cases where collective housing or public housing cannot be arranged, teachers will be supported with housing rent according to the level of public housing rental support (Point a, Clause 2, Article 26).

National Assembly Deputy Be Minh Duc hopes that from the central government to localities as well as the whole society, there will be more attention, joining hands to contribute to investing in education. In which, priority is given to building public housing, contributing to taking care of the material and spiritual needs of teachers working in disadvantaged areas.
Once I have basically met the need for public housing, I believe that many teachers across the country will feel secure in their profession, with a long-term school, and have the motivation to improve their professional qualifications. Actively participate in emulation movements of the industry and the locality, contributing to the cause of local education and training in the renovation period Member of National Assembly Duc shared.
Regarding the policy of supporting collective housing and renting public housing for teachers, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh said that this is also a preferential policy to ensure collective housing for teachers when working in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, border areas, islands and areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions.
