Cases where teachers are entitled to reduced teaching hours

The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

Article 9 of Circular No. 05/2025/TT-BGDDT Regulating working regime for general education and university reserve teachers (effective from April 22, 2025) stipulates the regime of reducing teaching hours for teachers who concurrently hold professional jobs as follows:

1. Homeroom teachers in general schools are reduced by 04 hours/week.

2. Homeroom teachers at pre- universities are reduced by 03 periods/week.

3. The head of a professional group or the head of a department group is reduced by 03 periods/week; the deputy head of a professional group or the deputy head of a department group is reduced by 01 period/week.

4. The head of the student management team in ethnic boarding schools and semi-boarding schools will have 03 periods/week reduced; the deputy head of the student management team in ethnic boarding schools and semi-boarding schools will have 01 period/week reduced.

5. Teachers who are also heads of the university's functional department are reduced by 06 periods/week; teachers who are also deputy heads of the university's functional department are reduced by 05 periods/week.

6. When the school does not have equipment and testing staff, teachers who are also in charge of subject classrooms (except for IT rooms) are reduced by 03 periods/subject/week, and those in charge of educational equipment departments are reduced by 03 periods/week.

Thus, from April 22, 2025, teachers will have their teaching hours reduced according to the above regulations.
