Donate nearly 300m2 of frontage land to expand the road
With a heart for the community, Mr. Tran Anh Kiet did not hesitate to donate nearly 300 square meters of frontage land to expand Kha Van Can Street (Hiep Binh Chanh Ward, Thu Duc City).
This decision of Mr. Kiet contributes significantly to improving traffic and enhancing the quality of life of people in the area.
"The value of the land can be up to billions of dong, but it is not equal to the common benefit for the community," said Mr. Kiet (58 years old).

Mr. Kiet said that about 20 years ago, his family donated 200 square meters to build a road; inheriting his parents' spirit of community service, he is now also willing to donate land.
Mr. Kiet said that when the ward mobilized people to donate land to widen the road, most people hesitated and did not agree because the city's land was very valuable. But for him, exchanging land for joy and good reputation for his descendants, he was willing to donate.
Kha Van Can Street, Hiep Binh Chanh Ward, is more than 300m long from the intersection with Road 25 and Road 48. Previously, it was about 2.5m wide, but now it is nearly 6m wide. The total expanded area is 1,000m2.
People are happy to have a wide, clean alley to welcome Tet.
Mr. Van Song and the people in alley 1248 Huynh Tan Phat street (District 7) are happy and excited to have a spacious, clean and beautiful alley.
"That money will eventually run out, but if we know how to share for the community, we will be happy and our neighbors will be happy too," Mr. Song said with a smile, saying that he had given up about 10 square meters of his family's land to widen the alley.

According to Mr. Song, the alley used to be only about 4 meters wide, making it difficult for fire trucks and ambulances to enter. This also posed many potential dangers in case an accident occurred in the alley.
"Now that the alley has been widened like this, people are very excited and happy. This Tet is a meaningful Tet for us," said Mr. Song.
24 households living in alley 76/47 Phan Tay Ho (Ward 7, Phu Nhuan District) agreed to donate 127.53 square meters of land, worth about 18 billion VND, for the State to expand the alley.
From an alley about 2.2 meters wide, the People's Committee of Ward 7, Phu Nhuan District mobilized people to share part of the land in front of their houses to widen the alley to 4 meters.

“Everyone is excited to have a wide, clean alley. I have also prepared flags and flowers to hang in front of my house to welcome the new year,” said Phan Thi Do, a resident living in the alley, smiling.
Ms. Do said that sharing a little land would make it more difficult for her family to move cars in and out of the house, but to have a more spacious and airy alley, she would not regret anything.
According to Mr. Tran Quang Sang - Vice Chairman of Phu Nhuan District People's Committee, from 2022 to present, Phu Nhuan District continues to implement four alley expansion projects (142D Co Giang, 694 Nguyen Kiem, 247 Hoang Hoa Tham, 76/47 Phan Tay Ho) under the method of "People voluntarily donating land" which is in the compensation price assessment stage.
The total number of households donating land is 173, with a total area of over 670m2, equivalent to a land use right value of over 84 billion VND. Currently, 146 households agree with the support price for architecture and demolition to hand over the site, while 27 households are currently continuing to campaign for clearance.

Mr. Sang assessed that the above changes have significantly improved the quality of life, activities, especially the travel of residents, creating a new vitality and urban beauty for the community, contributing positively to the stability of the locality.
The policy of donating land to expand alleys and roads in Ho Chi Minh City has been implemented by the government since 2000. Over the past 20 years, about 168,000 households have donated 5.3 million square meters of land worth more than VND10,000 billion, expanding thousands of projects.
