Many people when designing houses often focus on living rooms and bedrooms but pay little attention to the arrangement of the kitchen. Meanwhile, this is an area that uses heat, water, electricity and cooking equipment regularly, so it needs to be arranged reasonably to ensure safety, convenience and hygiene.
One of the important factors is the location of the kitchen. The kitchen should be placed in a ventilated area, with good odor and heat dissipation. For gas-powered kitchens, ventilation needs to be emphasized to limit the risk of gas or smoke accumulation in closed spaces.
The kitchen position also needs to be calculated to facilitate the cooking process. The food preparation area, stove and sink should be arranged relatively close to each other, helping to reduce movement while still ensuring a safe distance between the heat source and the water source.
In particular, the stove should not be placed too close to the sink or faucet. Water can splash into areas with high temperatures, causing inconvenience and increasing the risk of burns or incidents during cooking. With gas stoves, it is necessary to avoid exposing the fire to flammable materials or placing the device in a secret position.
The sink and stove also do not necessarily have to be on the same straight line. When designing, it can be arranged in an L-shape or other options depending on the area, as long as it ensures reasonable operating space, does not obstruct the walkway and maintains a safe distance between the area with water and the heat source.
In addition, dish racks, kitchen cabinets and electrical appliances should be arranged in a convenient but not obstructive position when cooking. Flammable items such as towels, paper, and cooking oil should be kept away from the stove and heat source.
A well-arranged kitchen not only helps to make cooking more convenient but also contributes to limiting the risk of fire, explosion, burns, electrical short circuits and food contamination. Therefore, instead of relying on concepts of kitchen direction or feng shui, homeowners should prioritize function, ventilation, electrical - gas safety, hygiene and convenience in living when designing this space.
