On September 10, the Department of Construction of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province said that the locality is actively implementing the plan to develop social housing in the area, but the implementation process still has many problems.
According to the social housing development plan in Ba Ria - Vung Tau for the period 2023-2025, the whole province plans to implement 17 projects with a scale of 54.3 hectares, thereby arranging 12,798 social housing units for workers in need.
Of which, there are 12 social housing projects for low-income earners, with 9,451 units; 3 projects for industrial park workers, with 3,034 units; 2 social housing projects with 20% land fund, with 313 units.
Two hot spots for social housing demand are Phu My town with 5 projects with about 4,295 units; Vung Tau city with 3 projects with about 4,254 units.
As planned, in 2024, Ba Ria - Vung Tau strives to complete 2 social housing projects with about 313 units, including: phase 1 social housing project in the land fund of 20% of Sonadezi Huu Phuoc Residential Area project with about 210 units; social housing project in the land fund of 20% of Lan Anh 7B Residential Area project with about 103 units.
At the same time, completing procedures to start construction of 4 projects with a total scale of 15.6 hectares with more than 6,900 apartments; implementing procedures to invest in 9 projects with a scale of 34.2 hectares; continuing construction of a social housing project in Con Dao...
However, the implementation process encountered many difficulties, causing 6 projects to change progress compared to the plan.
For example, the social housing project in Ward 10, Vung Tau City has a scale of 4.7 hectares, with about 2,295 apartments and public service works... expected to start construction in November 2024, but is currently only in the investment proposal stage.
The social housing project in Ward 12, Vung Tau City has a scale of 5.8 hectares, with about 1,951 apartments, 26 on-site resettlement areas and public service works... expected to start construction in November 2024, but is currently in the detailed planning stage of 1/500, waiting for the opinion of the Department of Operations - General Staff to approve the clearance height.
According to the Department of Construction, of the 17 projects, the two projects in Vung Tau City mentioned above are more than 200 days behind schedule, due to many reasons such as legal problems; slow planning, appraisal and approval...
Of the remaining projects, 8 are behind schedule; only 5 projects are on schedule; 1 project is proposed to discontinue implementation; 1 project is converted to resettlement housing.
With the above problems leading to slow progress, the Department has issued a written report, proposing a number of options to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration, direction of implementation, and resolution of problems to speed up the progress of social housing development in the area.
