Recorded by Lao Dong reporter on November 16, after a long period of inactivity, many large-scale projects located on prime land in the center of Da Nang are being put under review and remove obstacles.
Of which, there are 3 projects located on Hung Vuong Street, about 400m from Han River, which are the Da Nang Center Project; Diamond Square Project and the Golden Square Commercial, Office, Hotel, and Luxury Apartment Complex Project.
The Diamond Square project located at 84 Hung Vuong is expected to be a commercial center, office, hotel, luxury apartment, located right opposite the park and walking garden. The project is invested by Vientiane Vietnam Real Estate Joint Stock Company since 2008, with a total capital of 180 million USD, on a land area of over 11,100m2.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thao (a resident on Hung Vuong Street) - shared that for decades, the project on the land at 84 Hung Vuong has been surrounded by corrugated iron, with overgrown weeds inside, which is very wasteful.
Located opposite 84 Hung Vuong is the Golden Square project. The project was granted an investment certificate in 2008, with a land area of over 10,600m2. After building a concrete block with 5 upper floors, the investor here has stopped construction.
The project was granted a construction permit until 2011, and the progress was extended to October 2018. Currently, the four frontages of this project are becoming spontaneous parking spaces.
Talking to Lao Dong, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung - Head of residential group 31 Hai Chau (Hai Chau ward, Da Nang) was fed up with the scene of 3 adjacent projects that have been shelved for decades.
Living next to the Da Nang Center Project, which started construction in phase I in March 2008, Ms. Dung shared that the project was once introduced as a high-rise apartment complex for sale and rental, a high-end standard commercial center, a 5-star hotel, and a conference center.
However, after the groundbreaking and pouring of concrete piles, the project is still unfinished, becoming an unforgettable "pound" because there is no drainage or prison.
"People here have repeatedly reported to the local authorities when the project is inactively, not implemented, causing environmental pollution when prison water stagnates and flies and mosquitoes are springing up" - Ms. Dung said.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang - said that in the period of 2025-2030, Da Nang City will continue to review and remove a number of key and dynamic projects to continue unlocking resources, promoting investment, and developing the socio-economy.
Including projects located on prime land in the city center such as Golden Square, Diamond Square at 84 Hung Vuong, Da Nang Center that have not been implemented for more than ten years, causing waste, chaos, and environmental pollution.
