The total planned area of Ta Xua Tourist Area and neighboring areas of Bac Yen district is about 13,000 hectares; population size is about 12,010 people.

At the same time, promote investment attraction, gradually develop tourism, strive to make Ta Xua a provincial-level tourist area by 2030, a central point connecting tourism with tourist areas and destinations of Son La, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Lai Chau, Dien Bien provinces. Serve as a basis for land management, construction order, attracting construction investment projects, contributing to socio-economic development in the region.
The current population in the study area is 11,130 people; the population forecast by 2030 is 12,010 people; by 2045 is about 13,945 people.
Ta Xua is a highland commune bordering Tram Tau district (Yen Bai province), at an altitude of over 2,800m above sea level. The weather is cool all year round, the summer temperature does not exceed 28 degrees Celsius, in winter the temperature is 3-6 degrees Celsius lower than the plain area. This is a famous tourist destination in Son La as well as the Northwest region.
