According to the latest report from the Thu Duc City People's Committee, two sections of the Ring Road 2 project need land acquisition with a total of 1,151 households affected.
Section 1 from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Street, over 3.5km long, has 893 households whose land will be recovered. The public investment capital allocated in 2024 to clear the land for this section is 5,825 billion VND.
Section 2 from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Pham Van Dong Street, nearly 2.5km long, with 258 households affected. The public investment capital allocated in 2024 for site clearance is 1,742 billion VND.
Thu Duc City People's Committee has directed relevant units to urgently complete compensation procedures and resettlement support for affected households. Up to now, procedures such as mapping the current status, locating and planting landmarks, and handing over land boundaries in the field have been completed.
Currently, Thu Duc City is continuing to confirm the legal status of real estate, conduct inventory and land valuation to speed up disbursement progress.
For resettlement needs, Thu Duc City needs to arrange 555 plots of land and 58 apartments for households in section 1 and 102 plots of land and 10 apartments for section 2.
To ensure the progress of public investment disbursement this year, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City has proposed that the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City allow the review of public land funds along Ring Road 2 to adjust the planning and create resettlement land funds for affected households.
The goal is to ensure resettlement as close to the clearance area as possible, helping people quickly stabilize their lives after their land is acquired.
Thu Duc City People's Committee commits to resettle eligible households with land and apartments.
However, to meet the demand for land, Thu Duc City proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee promptly hand over two plots of land at 118 Dang Van Bi, Binh Tho Ward and 15/6C Dang Van Bi, Truong Tho Ward.
These are lands that have been recovered from Sanofi-Synthelabo Vietnam Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, currently being considered for use in resettlement of the Ring Road 2 project and other key projects in Thu Duc City.
According to the plan, the land at 118 Dang Van Bi, Binh Tho ward, can provide from 32 to 47 resettlement plots, while the land at 15/6C Dang Van Bi, Truong Tho ward, is expected to provide from 55 to 83 plots.
The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that if the site is handed over by Thu Duc City on schedule, these two sections of Ring Road 2 will start construction in the second quarter of 2025 and be completed in 2027.
Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 2 has a total length of 64km, of which 50km has been completed and put into use, the remaining 14km has not been closed, divided into 4 sections.
Besides the two sections being implemented in Thu Duc City, section 3, over 2.7 km long from Pham Van Dong Street to Go Dua intersection, also in Thu Duc City, is being implemented under the BT (build-transfer) form but is still unfinished.
The final section (section 4) is 5.3km long, located in the South of Ho Chi Minh City, connecting National Highway 1 through Nguyen Van Linh Street, and has not yet been allocated investment capital for construction.
