On the morning of June 19, at the 3rd session of the 11th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, term 2026 - 2031, delegates considered the submission of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the list of land acquisition projects for socio-economic development for national and public interests in the area.
According to the proposal, the city will recover a total of 536.6 hectares of land to implement 4 projects.
Binh Quoi - Thanh Da new urban area in Binh Quoi ward has the largest land acquisition scale with 403.4 ha, on a total project implementation area of 423.6 ha.
Currently, this area has about 128.4 hectares managed and used by 51 organizations and about 275 hectares used by people for agricultural cultivation. On the land, there are also many residential works of people and organizations.
The project is oriented to develop into a modern, synchronous urban area with full functions of housing, commerce - services, health, education, culture, sports, tourism, hotels and offices.

According to the plan, the urban area has a population scale of about 54,000 people, providing 25,526 houses including apartments, townhouses, villas, social housing and resettlement housing. The land fund for social housing development accounts for about 20% of the residential land area.
The total investment capital of the project is estimated at nearly 99,000 billion VND, equivalent to more than 3.74 billion USD.
The Cai Mep Ha General and Container Port project in Tan Phuoc ward has an area to be recovered of 123 hectares, out of a total land and water surface area of about 351.2 hectares.
The area to be recovered is currently forest land and vacant land managed by the State, but people are cultivating agriculture, so compensation and support work will have to be carried out.

The project has a total wharf length of more than 6.8 km, a designed capacity of 11 million TEUs per year and is capable of receiving container ships with a capacity of up to 24,000 TEUs (250,000 tons). The total investment of the entire project is about 50. 200 billion VND.
Phase 1 alone will build two 900 m long wharves, receiving 250,000 tons of ships; nine barges more than 1 km long, with a capacity of about 2 million TEUs per year. Total investment in this phase is about 14,867 billion VND.
The ITC - Rach Bap shallow port project in Tay Nam ward recovered nearly 9.8 hectares of land. The land is mainly agricultural land used by people and partly managed by the Management Board of An Dien Industrial Park. The project is invested with non-budget capital to develop logistics infrastructure to serve transportation and import-export activities.
The Tran Binh Trong road expansion project in Vuon Lai ward will recover about 0.4 hectares of land.
The project is about 377 m long, the section from Hung Vuong street to Ly Thai To street. After completion, the road will be expanded from 5 m to 23 m of road boundary, of which the road surface is 15 m wide with 4 lanes for traffic, and the sidewalks on each side are 4 m wide.
The project also includes synchronous items such as upgrading the drainage system, paving sidewalks with granite, undergrounding power grids and telecommunications infrastructure.

To implement the project, functional agencies will recover land from 116 cases, of which 97 cases must be completely cleared.
The total investment of the project is more than 985 billion VND, mostly for compensation, support and resettlement. According to the plan, the project will be completed in September 2026.
When put into operation, the road is expected to reduce traffic pressure for the Hung Vuong, Ly Thai To, Le Hong Phong axes and surrounding areas, while contributing to improving drainage capacity and urban embellishment.
