Ho Chi Minh City promotes the progress of renovation and reconstruction of 16 dangerous grade D apartment buildings

Ho Chi Minh City - Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a document directing to accelerate the progress of renovation and reconstruction of old and heavily damaged apartment buildings in the area, especially 16 level D apartment buildings.

According to the direction of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, departments, branches and localities must focus on removing legal obstacles, accelerating compensation, resettlement and completing investment procedures to soon deploy the new construction of these apartment buildings.

9/16 apartment buildings have been relocated, 2 projects have been started

Among the 16 D-level apartment buildings, up to now, 9 apartment buildings have completed the relocation of residents. The city recorded 2 apartment buildings with construction investment projects including: Apartment building 23 Ly Tu Trong street (Saigon ward) and Apartment building 119B Tan Hoa Dong (Phu Lam ward).

The remaining 7 apartment buildings have been relocated but there are no new construction investment projects, it is necessary to continue to complete the planning, compensation and investor selection steps.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requests relevant wards to urgently implement specific tasks, with a clear completion timeline in 2026.

Apartment building No. 6Bis Nguyen Tat Thanh (Xom Chieu ward): Completed according to planning instructions, completed before May 30, 2026.

Apartment building 440 Tran Hung Dao (Cho Lon ward): Develop and approve compensation and resettlement plans, complete before June 15, 2026.

128 Hai Ba Trung Apartment Building (Saigon Ward): Amend the 1/2000 plan, develop a 1/500 detailed plan and additional compensation plan, complete before June 15, 2026.

Apartment building 47 Long Hung (Tan Son Nhat ward): Adjusting planning and approving compensation, completion before June 30, 2026.

Apartment building 40/1 Tan Phuoc (Tan Hoa ward): Adjusting planning and approving compensation, completion before June 15, 2026.

Apartment building 170-171 Tan Chau (Tan Son Nhat ward): Amend the overall plan, organize a land use right auction, report before June 15, 2026.

155-157 Bui Vien Apartment Building (Ben Thanh Ward): Adjusting the planning and approving the compensation plan, to be completed before June 15, 2026.

Accelerate the relocation of 7 apartment buildings

For 7 apartment buildings that have not completed relocation, of which 256/386 households have been relocated in some apartment complexes, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested relevant units to focus on completing the handover of apartments and signing resettlement contracts.

4 apartment buildings including Truc Giang, Vinh Hoi (lots A, B, C), 137 Ly Thuong Kiet, 149-151 Ly Thuong Kiet: Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction proactively works with Khanh Hoi Ward People's Committee, Tan Son Nhat Ward to coordinate the handover of apartments and signing contracts for households, completing relocation work. Report implementation results before May 30, 2026.

Apartment building 11 Vo Van Tan (Xuan Hoa ward): Working with the owner to remove obstacles, complete before May 30, 2026.

2 apartment buildings Ton That Thuyet and Hoang Dieu (Khanh Hoi ward): Hand over apartments and sign contracts with households to complete relocation work, report before May 30, 2026.
