Isak broke the monopoly when he took a public message on Instagram, in which he said he had lost faith in Newcastle. According to him, Newcastle have known about Isak's situation for a long time but have not taken action to promptly resolve the problem.
Isak shared: "When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship cannot continue. That is my current situation - and why change is for the best benefit of everyone, not just me".
Isak has scored 27 goals in 42 matches for Newcastle in the 2024-2025 season. He made a great contribution to helping the home team win a ticket to the UEFA Champions League and win the League Cup.
Isak told Newcastle in July that he wanted to learn about the options in the summer transfer window, according to multiple sources.
Liverpool have made a £110 million offer to Newcastle to sign Isak. However, Newcastle refused. They valued Isak at £150 million and only let the striker move to a new team if he found a replacement.
But so far, Newcastle have not signed a striker. They have failed in both major targets, Hugo Ekitike (to Liverpool) and Benjamin Sesko (to Man United). With only 2 weeks left in this summer transfer window, Newcastle have few quality alternatives.
Isak has been training alone all this time. He was absent for Newcastle's opening game of the season, when they drew 0-0 away to Aston Villa. Coach Eddie Howe and the board hope Isak will stay, but with the Swedish striker's latest sharing, this will be very difficult.
If Isak moves to Liverpool in the near future, Newcastle will face many difficulties, as they do not have any reliable striker. Striker Callum Wilson has moved to another team, while striker William Osula is only 22 years old and has played very little last season.
In the next round of the Premier League, Newcastle will meet Liverpool at home.
