Arne Slot has had an impressive start to life as Liverpool manager. In fact, it's the best start of any Reds manager's reign. Liverpool have won nine of their first 10 games in all competitions.
No other new manager in Premier League history has won more points (18) or had a better goal difference (+11) than Slot in his first seven games. Only one has achieved both, and another has achieved the same total but had a worse goal difference: Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola.
And these are also the last two coaches to lead a Premier League club to win the Champions League. Therefore, although it is too early, Liverpool fans still have the right to hope.
Liverpool have parted ways with one of the greatest managers in football history, Jurgen Klopp, this summer. And they have barely added to their squad. Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili will remain on loan at Valencia for another season, while Federico Chiesa has also struggled to get playing time.
Despite this, Liverpool have not lost any of their strength, and are even more formidable. Of course, it must be affirmed that the foundation at Anfield has been built firmly. If anything, defensive midfielder is the only position they have pursued recently.
The Reds have one of the best attacking lines in Europe, both in terms of quantity and quality. Although their finishing is not very effective, Liverpool's ability to create chances is extremely impressive. Even when some key strikers were injured throughout the season, the Kop's attack never really weakened.
Although the midfield is quite thin, last season's trio of new signings Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai are enough for Slot to operate, while academy graduates Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are also growing in maturity.
At right-back, Conor Bradley emerged last season as an excellent back-up to Trent Alexander-Arnold. On the opposite flank, Andy Robertson remains one of the best players in the world, while Kostas Tsimikas and Joe Gomez add depth.
At centre-back, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are one of the best pairings in the world, with Jarell Quansah also showing great potential.
Even in goal, they have depth. Alisson is arguably the best goalkeeper around, with Caoimhin Kelleher ready to step in.
The main personnel change Slot made was bringing Gravenberch into the starting line-up. The Dutch midfielder has solved Liverpool's 'number 6' problem and has played every minute of the season so far.
With the current crop of players, Liverpool were strong contenders for the Premier League title last season. So it’s no surprise that with Slot’s new energy, the Anfield outfit will be a challenger once again.
