First held on May 1, 2004, Vinh Quang Vietnam (VQVN) is a cultural and political event directed by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, directly organized by Lao Dong Newspaper, in coordination with the Central Emulation and Reward Committee, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee and many ministries and branches. In 2025, over the past 21 years, the program has honored 313 outstanding collectives and individuals, widely spread the spirit of patriotism, encouraged community action and strongly inspired by real people and real work in the cause of building and defending the country.
2025 is a special milestone in the history of the nation with many important events such as the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country, the 50th anniversary of the national reunification, and the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press. This is also the year the whole country enters a period of strong transformation in the spirit of 4 important pillars of the Central Resolution: Resolutions 57, 59, 66 and 68 - the foundation for a new era of development with great aspirations for the digital economy, green economy, innovation and extensive international integration.
In that context, the 2025 Vietnam National Defense Program "Pride and Aspiration" honors 19 typical advanced collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in key areas. They are quiet but persistent, creative flowers, committed to contributing to the appearance of Vietnam today.
This year's list includes outstanding collectives such as the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City - the unit that mobilized more than 7,000 billion VND during the pandemic, effectively implemented programs for social security, sea and islands, and military support; Party Committee, government and people of Hai Phong City - the leading locality in administrative reform in 2024, no more poor households, digital economy accounting for 30% of GRDP;
That is the General Department of Defense Industry - Ministry of National Defense, the Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces, the main force in modernizing the army, pioneering the research and manufacture of high-tech weapons, contributing to improving defense capacity and affirming the position of Vietnam's defense industry in the new era.
These are two typical units of the People's Armed Forces of the People's Public Security force: the Criminal Police Department - Ha Tinh Provincial Police and the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police.
They are at the forefront of fighting against high-tech, transnational crimes, vividly expressing the image of the People's Public Security soldiers in the 4.0 era: modern in equipment, sharp in operations, brave in action and master technology. In the context of increasingly sophisticated and untraditional crimes, the two units are clear evidence of innovative investigative thinking, flexible adaptation and determination to maintain the security front in the digital age. is a breakthrough feat, affirming international combat capability and responding quickly to digital crimes.
They are also typical representatives of the health sector in the digital transformation period: Cho Ray Hospital - the leader in applying advanced medical technology, winning the GPEA international quality award; Vietnam Vaccination Joint Stock Company (VNVC) - the leading vaccination system and a pioneer in vaccine autonomy.
Many other groups also made a strong impression in the journey of national renewal such as TH Group with a circular agricultural ecosystem and a national school milk program; Vietnam Airlines - an airline with a long history of dedication, is also the first airline in Vietnam to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from the beginning of 2025.
In addition, there are outstanding individuals: Labor Hero Mai Duc Chung - a legendary coach of the Vietnam women's football team, who led the team to win 4 consecutive Gold Medals at the SEA Games and for the first time in history brought Vietnam women's football to the 2023 World Cup finals. He is not only a talented football strategist, but also a symbol of dedication, patience and silently sowing the seeds of aspiration for thousands of female athletes - where women's football is not only a sport but also a journey to overcome gender discrimination, overcome oneself to reach the world.
There are also Dr. Tran Tan Phuong - co-author of the world-famous ST25 rice variety; Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Van Hung - who brings knowledge to the highland people, contributing to the development of the green economy and security of the northern border; Dr. Ngo So Phe - a Khmer female intellectual pioneering in preserving national culture and expanding educational opportunities for ethnic minorities; athlete Trinh Thu Vinh - representing the young generation of Vietnam to steadfastly conquer the Olympic peak; worker Pham Dinh Duan - a miner with outstanding emulation achievements, representing a new, intellectual, dedicated, and constantly innovative working class.
Through the theme "Pride and Aspiration", this year's Vietnam Fatherland Front program continues to spread the spirit of strong national growth in the new development stage - from factories, hospitals, border areas to research rooms, green farms and creative spaces of the younger generation.
The honored examples are not only typical in achievements but also models of citizen responsibility, creative inspiration, and dedication, thereby contributing to lighting up the national aspiration for a prosperous, green, inclusive and sustainable Vietnam.
