Arsenal have been looking to sign a new striker for some time now, with Alexander Isak, who plays for Newcastle, being one of their top targets. However, the biggest obstacle is the £150 million price tag for the Swedish player.
Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith believes Isak would be a great fit for the Gunners. He was quoted by Metro as saying: “Alexander Isak remains the top target because he has been successful in the Premier League.
When you play for Arsenal, you don't have any time to adapt. He's at a great age. He showed himself in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. He's a fantastic striker.
I think a new striker would improve the team. It would be a morale booster. It would be great but I don't think it can happen now."
Alan Smith also gave Arsenal a solution to successfully recruit Alexander Isak. Accordingly, he believes that selling two players Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko will help earn a significant amount of money, thereby being able to complete this deal: “I think Arsenal should sell the reserve players. Gabriel Jesus has just been injured. The team should sell him to raise more money. Arteta will have to decide who to eliminate.
Zinchenko hasn’t started recently either. Both Jesus and Zinchenko came from Man City. When a club like that sells players to a rival, you have to ask why they do it. It’s been evident over the last two years.”
Arsenal paid £45m for Jesus and £32m for Zinchenko from Man City. However, the current value of this duo must have dropped significantly, because they have not played impressively for the "Gunners".
