According to the French Ministry of Home Affairs, tens of thousands of people poured into the streets to celebrate the victory, but the rallies quickly got out of control.
Police confirmed that at least two people were killed - one 17-year-old boy stabbed in Dax and the other was hit by a car near Paris.
A police officer in Coutances was also seriously injured after hit by fireworks and had to be put on artificial ventilation.
Vehicles were burned, stores were bombed and robbed. In Grenoble, a driver crashed into a crowd, injuring many people.
The police were forced to use pepper and dragon fruit to disperse the excessive crowd. A total of 294 people were arrested, including 30 when they broke into a shoe store on the Champs-Elysees.

The French government strongly condemned acts of violence. President Emmanuel Macron said: "There is no justification for what happened. We are in grief, 2 people have died. We will punish them appropriately."
However, the parade to celebrate PSG's victory still took place with more than 110,000 attendees.
The club and the players have called on fans to stay calm and celebrate peacefully, affirming that violence does not represent the football-loving community.
