After criticizing Ronaldo for leaving Portugal for Torino (Italy) when he was carrying the SARS-CoV-2 virus and receiving a refutes, Mr. Spadafora has not stopped the controversy. The Italian sports minister even pushed the matter further when he revealed an investigation.
"He does not respect anti-epidemic procedures. The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office has conducted an investigation to prove this. COVID-19 has taught us that no one is an exception. Everyone must comply with strict regulations to ensure the safety of the whole community. The best solution is to stay at home," Spadafora told Rai 3.
Ronaldo was confirmed infected with COVID-19 on October 12. According to regulations, the 3-year-old striker will be self-isolated for 14 days. However, instead of on-site quarantine, CR7 hired a private plane to fly back to Italy. Many sources explain that the land of ong bread is only required to be quarantined for 10 days, so Ronaldo wants to return to the field early (in case he recovers from illness).
This was opposed by Minister of Sports Vincenzo Spadafora. According to this official, this is a violation of regulations, if there is no special license from health agencies. However, Juventus and Ronaldo have both denied this information. Juventus President Andrea Agnelli even challenged, Spadafora needs to call the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Home Affairs to find out what Ronaldo has violated.
The Portuguese striker himself once spoke up to clarify: "I don't break the quarantine rules. I returned here by specialized medical means and have not had contact with anyone, including in Turin. Returning to Italy, I continued to quarantine myself. Even with the family, we have no contact."
Although Ronaldo has not recovered from his illness, UEFA has accepted Juventus's special application. If CR7 had tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 before the Champions League match against Barca, he would have been allowed to play.
