Like Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo will try to turn his upward trajectory into his initial form at Old Trafford.
Only Mohamed Salah has brought more points to his side from goals and assists than Mbeumo in the Premier League this season. His contributions to goals not only make him one of the tournament's best players in terms of statistics, but also a star who always knows how to decide the game when needed.
While Cunha is eyeing the left "number 10" position, Mbeumo will aim for the right wing position of the attack. Back when he was in charge of Sporting Lisbon, coach Ruben Amorim's system always had a natural right winger. Specifically Marcus Edwards and Francisco Trincao.
At Manchester United, Mbeumo will want that position, but so will Amad Diallo. The 22-year-old has barely contributed much under Amorim due to injury. However, every time he is on the field, Amad leaves a positive impression. He is even considered a rare light in the darkness covering Old Trafford.

Playing on the right wing in the Manchester derby this season, Amad scored and assisted to help the "Red Devils" win the match. In the loss to Tottenham in the Europa League final, Amad was also one of the few players to play well for Man United.
Therefore, two things could happen if Mbeumo completes his move to Old Trafford. Or it will help Amad reduce the burden and both compete for the same role. The other case is Amad being moved to the right-back role.
In Amorim's system, full-backs seem to be the most watched area on the pitch, alongside the 'number 10' players. Man United's inability to find suitable options for those positions is clearly shown through the recruitment of Patrick Dorgu in January this year. This young talent is not a perfect player but at least suits the requirements.
In the current context, full-backs play an important role in any system like Amorim's. That was especially evident in Pereira's 3-4-2-1 at Wolves, but also at Oliver Glasner's Crystal Palace. The diligence of Daniel Munoz and Tyrick Mitchell was a key factor in helping The Eagles win the FA Cup and advance to the European Cup.
Meanwhile, Man United's full-backs, despite having to run a lot, are not among the top wingers in the league. Amorim once cited "lack of urgency in defending or attacking the penalty area" as one of the reasons for the defeat.

But Amad has proven that he can play as a full-back. Amorim's first four Premier League games have seen the youngster start in that position. After a period of adaptation, Amad's next start at full-back ended with a hat-trick against Southampton.
And during his time in charge of Sporting, Amorim even played as a right-back for a few months. This shows that he can give young players with attacking thinking important responsibilities.
The arrival of Cunha and Mbeumo - one has been completed and the other is being planned - are the first steps in Man United's design in the recovery effort. This is a step that not only changes the lives of these two players, but also changes the responsibility of those around them at Old Trafford.
