The biggest surprise in the last match of the Champions League qualifying round is called Bodo/Glimt.
In the early morning of January 29 (Vietnam time), two goals from Fredrik Sjovold and Kasper Hogh helped the Norwegian representative defeat Atletico Madrid 2-1 right in Spain.
In their first season at the most prestigious playground in Europe, Bodo/Glimt created an earth-shattering double when they successively defeated Man City and Atletico in just two weeks, thereby winning a ticket to the play-offs. Notably, before that they only had 3 points after 6 matches with 3 draws.
Bodo/Glimt has never won a match in the Champions League, but in just 8 days they have created two historic victories. Both are considered by experts as earthquakes in the number one arena in the continent.
It is even more special that Bodo/Glimt has done this in the context of not playing in the domestic league for the past two months, because Eliteserien applies a calendar based on the Gregorian calendar. Lack of rhythm does not make them lose their breath, on the contrary, the Norwegian team shows solidarity, discipline and admirable bravery against European "giants".
Success on the pitch also quickly attracted attention from the transfer market. Norwich is said to have sent an offer of 8 million Euros, with surcharge clauses, to recruit Kasper Hogh - one of the important factors of Bodo/Glimt. Negotiations between the two teams are still ongoing.
Although the future is unknown, this small Northern European team is clearly living in the most brilliant days of history, continuously making Europe look back.
