According to European sources, Chelsea and Xabi Alonso are ready to sell Jackson in this summer transfer window. However, the London team wants to collect up to 60 million pounds for the Senegalese striker.
The above valuation is making the deal difficult. Tottenham, Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid are all said to be interested in Jackson, but no team has met Chelsea's financial requirements.
Jackson spent the previous season on loan at Bayern Munich. The striker scored 11 goals in 34 appearances, but could not convince the German team to activate a buyout clause worth 65 million euros, equivalent to about 55.5 million pounds.
After returning to Chelsea, Jackson is expected to compete for a position in the attack under new coach Xabi Alonso. However, not being named in the squad for the last friendly match before the season against Real Sociedad shows a not very positive sign for the former Bayern star.
Now, coach Alonso will be the one to make the final decision about Jackson's future. The Spanish strategist took over Chelsea after signing a four-year contract and is starting to build a personnel plan for the new season.
Chelsea has also made notable changes in attack. The London team recruited Danny Welbeck from Brighton for £5 million at the beginning of the summer, thereby adding more experience to the forward line.
Besides Jackson, Chelsea is also ready to listen to offers for Liam Delap. The 23-year-old striker is not present in the friendly match with Real Sociedad and is receiving attention from Como.
Chelsea are said to want 40 million pounds for Delap, who joined the team from Ipswich Town for 30 million pounds last year. However, Delap prioritizes continuing to play in the Premier League instead of moving to Italy.
In case Jackson and Delap leave Stamford Bridge together, Alonso will have to recalculate the attacking plan significantly before the new season.
With Jackson, the fee of 60 million pounds is the biggest problem. Chelsea wants to recover a significant portion of the investment for the Senegalese striker, while interested teams have not yet shown that they are ready to meet this number.
