According to information from the British press, the deal between Chelsea and Al Nassr is gradually coming to an end. Joao Felix is expected to join the Saudi Arabia team with an initial transfer fee of 30 million euros. Excluding add-ons and resell terms, the total value could help Chelsea earn about 50 million euros.
Felix has agreed to the personal terms offered by Al Nassr. Accordingly, he will sign a 5-year contract, receiving a salary of 22 million pounds/year, equivalent to 420,000 pounds/week.
If he still plays in the Premier League, this will be the second highest salary in the tournament, after Erling Haaland (500,000 pounds/week at Manchester City).
Notably, this salary is even higher than Lionel Messi's basic salary at Inter Miami. According to the MLS Players Association, Messi only receives about 20.45 million USD/year (about 16.1 million pounds). Although Messi has a lot of income from commercial contracts, considering the fixed salary at the club alone, Felix still receives significantly higher
If the deal is completed, Joao Felix will reunite with his senior in the Portuguese national team - Cristiano Ronaldo. This is considered part of Al Nassr's plan to build a star squad, as it strives to reach the continental level with a series of big contracts over the past few years.
However, many opinions say that going to Saudi Arabia at the age of 25 is a step back in Felix's career. Chelsea had previously spent £42 million to buy him out in the summer of 2024, but the player did not leave much of an impression before being sold.
