Manchester United is expected to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window. Despite just winning an impressive 3-0 victory over Everton, "Red Devils" fans are still uncertain about the home team's form.
British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is willing to buy a minority stake in Man United and is expected to take charge of football operations at Old Trafford after the deal is approved. One of Ratcliffe's biggest priorities will be the transfer market, as he is unhappy with the Glazers' previous approach.
Jim Ratcliffe could make an immediate impact in January, as the winter transfer window opens. Man United's immediate priority will be to recruit a new centre-back.
Lisandro Martinez and Jonny Evans are both out, while Raphael Varane is expected to leave. The arrival of Ratcliffe could help Man United sign long-term transfer targets such as Jean-Clair Todibo.
Todibo is said to have intended to move to Man United this summer, but the deal fell through as Harry Maguire remained at Old Trafford. Todibo is playing for Nice in Ligue 1, a team also owned by Ratcliffe and they are ready to sell the centre-back in January.
The 23-year-old is valued at around £40 million and could partner Martinez in defence. Man United hope the Argentine player can return to play in January. Casemiro's future is also in doubt as Ratcliffe is widely seen as ready to sell the Brazilian.
And Benfica's highly rated midfielder, Joao Neves, has also been closely linked with Man United. The 19-year-old has started for Benfica this season and recently made his international debut for Portugal.
If he is tempted to move to Old Trafford, Neves can start with his compatriots Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay. Ten Hag is also in dire need of more firepower, as Rasmus Hojlund has yet to score in the Premier League and Marcus Rashford has only scored 2 goals.
According to Spanish news agency El Nacional, Man United are planning to recruit Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezman. The Frenchman has been linked with the Red Devils many times over the past year and could be transferred in January. The former Barcelona player has scored 12 goals in 16 matches in all competitions for Atletico Madrid this season.
In the end, Jadon Sancho fell into a difficult situation after conflicts with Ten Hag. The Dutch strategist believes that poor performances are the reason behind Sancho's absence in the match against Arsenal in early September.
Sancho's public response and his refusal to apologize led to Ten Hag deciding to deport the £73 million striker from the first team.
While it remains to be seen whether Varane will be given a green light to leave the club in January, it appears Man United will welcome the offer for Sancho.
