Elliot Anderson did not take long to win the hearts of Manchester City fans after completing a £116 million transfer from Nottingham Forest.
The 23-year-old midfielder is an important factor helping England win third place at the 2026 World Cup and was also a pillar of Nottingham Forest in the Premier League last season. Before Morgan Rogers moved from Aston Villa to Chelsea for £117 million, Anderson was the English player with the highest transfer fee in history.
After officially joining Man City, Anderson did not hide his excitement when talking about the first Manchester derby of next season, taking place on September 13.
This is one of the biggest derbies in the world. Since I knew Manchester, Man City has always been the king of this city. It will be a special match and I am very eager to participate" - Anderson shared on the club's homepage.
Anderson's career has progressed rapidly in the past 2 years. Growing up from the Newcastle academy, he moved to Nottingham Forest for £35 million in the summer of 2024, before shining at the 2026 World Cup.
However, Anderson believes that he has not yet reached the peak of his career: "I am only 23 years old so there is still a lot of time to develop. I believe I can improve a lot more".
The move to Man City was actually agreed upon three weeks ago but only completed after Anderson returned from the World Cup. This midfielder signed a contract valid until 2031 and became the first big signing under coach Enzo Maresca.
