On the morning of June 8, a delegation of Party and State leaders led by Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra - Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee for Searching, Repatriating and Identifying Martyrs' Remains (Steering Committee 515) - as Head of the delegation came to offer incense and flowers to commemorate late General Secretary Tran Phu and heroic martyrs at Le Thi Rieng Park (Hoa Hung ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
Attending the working delegation were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Head of the City's Steering Committee 515; and Lieutenant General Tran Vinh Ngoc - Political Commissar of Military Region 7.



At the ceremony, the working delegation respectfully offered incense at the stele commemorating late General Secretary Tran Phu - the first General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and heroic martyrs. In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, the delegates performed a memorial ritual, respectfully bowing to express their boundless gratitude, deep regret and gratitude for the great contributions of the outstanding children who bravely fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
In front of the spirits of heroic martyrs, Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra - Deputy Prime Minister, Head of Steering Committee 515 and members of the delegation vowed to continue to promote the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source". The working delegation affirmed that they will make more efforts in the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains, thereby contributing to easing the pain of war, meeting the feelings and aspirations of relatives of martyrs' families and the whole society.

Also this morning, the National Steering Committee coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to organize a workshop to verify the conclusions of information about martyrs and martyrs' graves in the Chi Hoa - Cho Quan Cemetery area (now Le Thi Rieng Park).
The conference is an activity to continue affirming the special attention of Party and State leaders in drastically and synchronously directing solutions to accelerate the progress and effectiveness of collecting and processing valuable information to serve the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains. These are important initial results, reflecting the true spirit of the "peak of the peak" period of the 500-day and night campaign to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains.
The key objectives of the conference include: Collecting, summarizing, orienting, discussing, criticizing and concluding opinions of witnesses and veterans to connect information sources; Providing a scientific and legal basis to direct forces to organize field surveys, excavation, search and repatriation of martyrs' remains who sacrificed in Saigon - Gia Dinh, Cho Lon during the 1968 Tet Offensive and Uprising: Determining coordinates, characteristics of the current status of the burial area as well as the number of martyrs' remains.
