Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has just signed Decision No. 1356/QD-TTg establishing the Central Steering Committee for the National Target Program on Drug Prevention and Control to 2030 (Steering Committee).
The Steering Committee is an inter-sectoral coordinating organization, performing the function of assisting the Prime Minister in researching, directing, and coordinating the settlement of important inter-sectoral tasks in the implementation of the National Target Program on Drug Prevention and Control to 2030 (National Target Program).
Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra is the Head of the Steering Committee.
The Deputy Head of the Committee is General Luong Tam Quang - Member of the Politburo, Minister of Public Security.
Members of the Steering Committee include: Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Deputy Chairman of the Government Office Do Ngoc Huynh; Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Quoc Phuong; Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong; Deputy Minister of Justice Nguyen Thanh Ngoc; Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Phan Tam; Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Vo Van Hung.
In addition, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Le Tien; Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Cao Xuan Thao were invited to be members of the Steering Committee.
Director of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department; Chief of the Ministry of Public Security Office as a member of the Steering Committee.
Tasks and powers of the Steering Committee:
The Steering Committee has the task of assisting the Prime Minister in researching, advising, recommending, and proposing directions and solutions to direct and administer important issues in managing and organizing the implementation of the National Target Program.
Assisting the Prime Minister in directing, administering, and coordinating activities between ministries, central agencies and localities in organizing the implementation of the National Target Program; directing and urging ministries, central agencies and localities to summarize and evaluate the results of the National Target Program implementation; building a plan for the period 2026 - 2030.
Directing the inspection, supervision, and evaluation of the implementation of the National Target Program; summarizing the situation, promptly reporting to the Prime Minister and proposing solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles and perform other tasks assigned by the Prime Minister.
The Ministry of Public Security is the standing agency of the Steering Committee.
