On the last day of the 2020 summer transfer window, Man United completed the recruitment of striker Edinson Cavani. The 33-year-old striker has signed a 2-year contract and will be a reliable choice for coach Ole Solskjaer in the striker position.
The Norwegian tactician insists he is still a classy striker and will bring new power to the team. Sharing the same view, former football star Rio Ferdinand commented:
"I have to emphasize that Cavani is a player that Man United really need. The team has 3 extremely talented young strikers but that is not enough, they need help. Martial, for example, was suspended after receiving a red card against Tottenham. We need someone to replace us. Cavani will help the team a lot".
According to the legendary Man United centre-back, Man United's young strikers will benefit from the arrival of Cavani, Greenwood could get the same help as Henrik Larsson did to Wayne Rooney.
"The way Cavani plays, trains, and has experience is something he can pass on to young striker Greenwood. Cavani scored many goals and won many titles. If they can train and work with Cavani every day, Greenwood will benefit the most.
Many people keep saying that Cavani is not a long-term contract. Yes, but that is not the problem. I played when Man United bought Erik Erikson. You can ask forwards like Wayne Rooney how much value that has given the team and young strikers. Cavani is valuable as a big player and will have an impact on the whole team," Rio Ferdinand added.
