After the 0-0 draw between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce that took place in the early morning of February 25 (Vietnam time), coach Jose Mourinho made statements that were said to have racial significance.
He commented on the Turkish referee and Galatasaray's bench. Therefore, Galatasaray club has officially announced its intention to initiate criminal proceedings related to Mourinho's statements and will submit an official complaint to UEFA and FIFA.
Galatasaray did not update exactly what Mourinho said, but sources said he criticized "the match would be a disaster if the Turkish referee ruled it", saying "Galatasaray's bench jumped up like a monkey" when he saw the foul.
The match between the two teams was hosted by Slovenia referee Slavko Vincic after the two clubs requested a foreign referee replacement. But Galatasaray accused Mourinho of "continuously making insulting statements aimed at the Turkish people" since taking charge at Fenerbahce.
The "Special One" was previously given a one-match ban for his comments targeting Turkish football, saying the referee was biased towards the opponent.
