Andre Onana has arrived in Manchester and will sign a 5-year contract with an option to extend for another year with the Red Devils.
Erik ten Hag hopes Onana can join the US tour with the team after finishing the friendly match with Lyon at 8:00 p.m. tonight, July 19 (Vietnam time).
The Cameroonian goalkeeper has previously become a target for Man United after David de Gea left on a free transfer. Onana agreed a salary of around £200,000/week at Old Trafford before saying goodbye to his Inter Milan teammates.
Onana will reunite with Ten Hag, after winning 3 Dutch national championships under the 53-year-old strategist.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper retired from international football in December last year after a disagreement with coach rigobert Song at the 2022 World Cup. He was Ten Hag's second big signing this summer, behind Mason Mount, for £55 million.
After completing the Onana deal, Man United will focus on recruiting Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.
The Serie A representative initially demanded an amount of 86 million pounds for the Danish striker. Hojlund has only played 87 professional matches and scored 9 goals in 32 appearances last season.
The Old Trafford side are confident that they can reduce the Danish striker's price to around £60 million.
Onana's arrival and Mount's spending alone mean Ten Hag has spent £98.8m in this summer's transfer budget with a £120m limit.
Therefore, if they want to quickly have Hojlund, Man United must push a series of players such as Harry Maguire, Anthony Elanga, Alex Telles, Scott McTominay and Dean Henderson.
