Andy Robertson scored a super product and contributed an assist, helping Liverpool defeat Wolves 3-1 at Molineux in the 5th round of the FA Cup, thereby winning a ticket to the next round.
This victory also helped coach Arne Slot's team erase the memory of the 1-2 defeat to Wolves in the Premier League in the middle of the week.
The first half was quite dull when Wolves could not launch any shots in the first 45 minutes. Liverpool also did not create many clear chances. The most notable situation belonged to Cody Gakpo with a shot that hit the post, but the subsequent ball was declared offside.
The game situation changed after halftime. In the 51st minute, Robertson received the ball from a distance of nearly 25m and then launched a powerful shot into the low right corner of the goal, making goalkeeper Sam Johnstone completely helpless. This was also the first goal of the Scottish defender for The Kop from outside the penalty area.
Two minutes later, Liverpool doubled the gap. Robertson continued to leave his mark with an accurate cross from the left wing for Mohamed Salah to rush in and finish from close range. Initially, the assistant referee raised the flag for offside, but after consulting VAR, the goal was recognized.
Wolves tried to push up the squad to find an equalizer but encountered a solid defense system from the away team. In the 74th minute, Liverpool almost put an end to the match. Curtis Jones dribbled past two defenders before unleashing a beautiful left-footed curler, increasing the score to 3-0.
The home team only managed to score a consolation goal in injury time when Hwang Hee-chan took advantage of the opportunity to narrow the score.
