Man City visited Brentford in round 21 of the Premier League early this morning (January 15). They started the game proactively and created several opportunities in the first half. However, the players could not take advantage to open the score.
In the second half, Savinho unfortunately hit the post after a quick counter-attack. It was not until the 66th minute that The Citizens broke the deadlock. Kevin De Bruyne crossed just enough for Phil Foden to rush in and finish close to the goal, defeating goalkeeper Mark Flekken.
In the 78th minute, Mads Roerslev made a mistake and allowed Savinho to steal the ball. Flekken parried the Brazilian midfielder's first shot, but the ball fell right to Foden, who easily doubled City's lead.
In the following minutes, Brentford continued to attack. In the 82nd minute, from a pass from Roerslev, Yoane Wissa scored a beautiful goal in the 5m50 box. The match was tense with great pressure from the Bees in the remaining 10 minutes.
In the second minute of stoppage time, Christian Norgaard's tricky header was unstoppable by Ortega Moreno, and the game ended in a 2-2 draw. This was not the first time Man City had taken the lead but then lost the advantage in the final minute due to a weak defense.
The draw kept Man City in 6th place in the table. Pep Guardiola's team improved their poor form, not losing in their last 5 matches. Brentford temporarily rose to 10th place after an excellent 1-point win over the defending champions.
