Manchester United will clearly be very pleased with their transfer activity in the summer of 2024 with Manuel Ugarte becoming their fifth signing.
The 23-year-old midfielder joined Old Trafford from PSG for an initial price of £42.2 million, in addition to £8.4 million in add-ons. PSG will eventually receive about 51 million pounds, the same amount they paid Sporting Lisbon to recruit Ugarte last summer.
The "Red Devils" identified Ugarte as a target from the beginning of the transfer period and felt that the Uruguayan midfielder could become a star in the future. The 23-year-old player has excelled in the typical squad of Copa America 2024.
After nearly 200 million pounds, Man United has strengthened in all the positions they target. Leny Yoro (18 years old), Joshua Zirkzee (23 years old), Matthjis de Ligt (25 years old) and Noussair Mazraoui (26 years old) are all players with many opportunities to develop.
The average age of Man United's squad has dropped significantly and Erik ten Hag will gradually remove Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof as well as Jonny Evans from the defense. Ten Hag has high hopes for De Ligt and Mazraoui to strengthen the defense after a forgettable 2023-2024 campaign.
Meanwhile, Yoro is a future contract of Man United. As for Ugarte, the Uruguayan midfielder will partner with Kobbie Mainoo in midfield in the context of Casemiro's decline in form. In attack, Zirkzee will share the scoring burden with Rasmus Hojlund.
Ten Hag outlined a clear transfer plan and so far, Man United's board of directors has fully supported the Dutch strategist. In addition, the "Red Devils" also earned about 75 million pounds from players like Mason Greenwood, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay.
McTominay will join Napoli for 25 million pounds, ending 22 years with Man United . Another star of the "Red Devils" who could leave in the coming days is Jadon Sancho, with Chelsea wanting to swap Raheem Sterling.
Juventus is also negotiating with Man United about Sancho, who was welcomed back by Ten Hag after a conflict between the two sides last season. The Old Trafford team will prioritize selling Sancho outright, or loaning him out with a buyout clause.
Meanwhile, Lazio is considering recruiting midfielder Victor Lindelof, who is said to have no future at Old Trafford. The Swedish midfielder has not trained for nearly a month due to a toe injury.
After getting satisfactory contracts, now it's time for Ten Hag to help Man United return to the top, at least a ticket to the Champions League next season.
