According to information from the Forward Command Center in Lang Nu village (Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai), on September 15, specialized agencies and units conducted a review, so there were changes in human and property damage.
Accordingly, the total number of households in the area affected by flash floods is 33 households with 40 houses (7 households have their own houses but have not separated), home to 168 people.
Due to the time of the flash flood, communication was interrupted and traffic was cut off, leading to a lack of timely and accurate statistics and reports.
In addition, some cases, although having information, but because of fear of danger, did not dare to return. Some other cases, due to panic, reported duplicate information between the parents' family and their own family...
Thus, up to now, 87 people are safe. The total number of dead and missing people to date is 66 cases (29 cases less than the initially announced figures).
Previously, a terrible landslide occurred in the early morning of September 10, flattening 40 houses in Lang Nu village, with 168 people. Of these, 3 people were over 70 years old, 18 were children under 6 years old, 14 were under 14 years old, and the rest were between 15-69 years old.
The area where the flash flood occurred is far from the center (40km from Bao Yen district, 120km from Lao Cai city), traffic is cut off, communication is completely lost, so it took the district's rescue team many hours to reach the scene.
Currently, forces are actively searching for the remaining 14 missing victims.
