Bruno Fernandes has given Manchester United an ultimatum regarding their future amid the interest of Paris St Germain. The Portuguese midfielder arrived at Old Trafford in January 2021 and has become a mainstay of the club since then.
At the beginning of last season, Fernandes was trusted by coach Erik ten Hag to assume the captaincy of Man United. However, it was one of the most forgettable Premier League campaigns of the "Red Devils".
Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has ordered a complete overhaul of the club, with Fernandes not on the list of stars whose future is guaranteed at Old Trafford. In that context, PSG's interest in the Portuguese international is increasing. 2 months ago, Fernandes outlined what Man United needed to do to keep him on the team.
"I will stay here as long as the club needs me. This feeling shows that it seems like the team still needs me as part of their future plans. Therefore, I will make every effort not to fall. in the situation of becoming someone the team no longer needs.
A player has to do what's best for the team and I'm no different just because I have the captain's armband. I always try to do my best because I know my teammates always try their best too. We always try to do the best for the club.
And no one hides that we play for a big club and we have to raise our standards in every match," said the Man United captain.
So, how will Man United and Fernandes act when they prepare to receive an offer from PSG? According to L'Equipe, the French giants really appreciate Fernandes' talent as they look to replace Kylian Mbappe.
The Portuguese midfielder has previously been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, although interest from Al-Nassr has not been strong enough. As for current PSG, coach Luis Enrique fully supports the recruitment of Fernandes.
Negotiations are expected to intensify between the two clubs over the Portuguese's future. Of course, with Ten Hag , he always wanted Fernandes to continue at Old Trafford.
"No, definitely, the club wants to keep Bruno Fernandes. I have to look at the interview again, maybe it's due to interpretation, but from everything I know about him, he loves Manchester United and wants to play for club. He always gives his best and is an example, even when injured," Ten Hag said after Fernandes opened up about his future.
It remains to be seen what PSG's next move will be, but for Man United, they need to consider Fernandes' future now.
