The "special assistant", silently, quietly
This afternoon (September 28), the memorial service for Associate Professor Dang Bich Ha - wife of General Vo Nguyen Giap - was solemnly held at the National Funeral Home.
In the eulogy at the memorial service, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Son - Principal of Hanoi Pedagogical University (where General Vo Nguyen Giap's wife used to work) reviewed the working process of Associate Professor Dang Bich Ha.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Son, Associate Professor Dang Bich Ha - wife of General Vo Nguyen Giap is a woman with many special qualities, intelligent, highly educated but very modest, simple, always close to everyone.
Associate Professor Dang Bich Ha and General Vo Nguyen Giap lived happily with their four children and devoted their love to Mrs. Vo Hong Anh, the eldest daughter of martyr Nguyen Thi Quang Thai and the General.
She was a "special assistant", silently and quietly helping her husband research and synthesize news, discussing historical issues with him, reading books with him, arranging documents and helping the General write his memoirs, and translating his works into French.
"The greatest happiness in Associate Professor Dang Bich Ha's life was being close to the General, being a solid supporter, taking care of the family, educating the children, so that the General could focus wholeheartedly on fulfilling the important responsibilities assigned by Uncle Ho, the Party, the Army, and the people, and completing the historical mission of the nation. She lived a pure but extremely noble life," Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Son affirmed.
"From now on, you two will be together forever"
"During their lifetime, the General and his wife's wish was to always be close to each other. In this sad moment, I would like to bid farewell to Associate Professor Dang Bich Ha as she returns to General Vo Nguyen Giap in Vung Chua - Yen Island after 11 years of separation. From now on, they will be together forever," Associate Professor Son expressed.
On behalf of the family, Mrs. Vo Hoa Binh (eldest daughter of General Vo Nguyen Giap and his wife Dang Bich Ha) choked up and shared: "The 15th day of the 8th lunar month this year is the day our family had a great separation - our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother - Associate Professor Dang Bich Ha has passed away..."
Ms. Vo Hoa Binh shared that General Vo Nguyen Giap and his wife Dang Bich Ha have been together for more than 60 years, going through many ups and downs in life, long years of war and days of national independence and freedom.
"During the time when our grandparents were apart, each of us felt their desire to be together. That was even more profound during these days. So the old words and wishes of our parents have been fulfilled, the whole family feels truly relieved," said Mrs. Vo Hoa Binh sadly.
Ms. Vo Hoa Binh expressed her gratitude to the leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, ministries, branches, organizations, people and international friends who came to see off and express condolences to the family.
