Overview
In the past few weeks, French teams have seemed to have found a way to slow down Lille's attack that was once considered unstoppable.
In the opening 4 matches of the season, Bruno Genesio's team scored 13 goals, but then failed to score in the last 2 matches in Ligue 1.
This is their longest run without a goal in the competition since May 2023. Lille have not scored in 3 consecutive Ligue 1 matches since September 2017.
If they lose this weekend, Lille will face their first run of three consecutive defeats in Ligue 1 since the 2019-2020 season, which was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Against Lyon, Lille saw their 60-game streak of consecutive home goals end, despite still maintaining a record of not conceding a single goal in 2 consecutive matches at Stade Pierre-Mauroy since November 2019.
Notably, only three of the 13 goals Les Nordistes have scored this season have come from home games, while they have won nine consecutive games at Stade Pierre-Mauroy every time they have scored more than once.
Meanwhile, the defeat against a traditional opponent, along with the loss of some key players due to injuries, did not reduce the spirit of the defending champion PSG.
Since the 0-1 loss to Marseille in Le Classique in round 5, coach Luis Enrique has seen his team regain their form with 2 impressive victories. This included a dramatic comeback 2-1 against Barcelona in the second round of the Champions League group stage.
PSG are at risk of suffering two consecutive away defeats in Ligue 1 this weekend - something that has not happened since January 2023. At the same time, they can overcome the number of away losses in the entire previous season (1 match).
As of now in the 2025-2026 season, PSG have kept a clean sheet in 4 of their 6 Ligue 1 matches. Only Lyon have done better than them, with five games without conceding.
The last time PSG failed to score in two consecutive away games in Ligue 1 was in March 2022, when the team was still led by Mauricio Pochettino.
Notably, PSG have won against Lille in their last three encounters, while being unbeaten in 6/7 recent away matches in all competitions.
Personnel situation
Lille continue to face personnel losses due to Alexsandro suffering from a muscle injury and will not be able to participate in the match against PSG.
In addition, Ousmane Toure is still recovering from a cruciate ligament injury, while Marc-Aurele Caillard is sidelined with an elbow injury.
On PSG's side, Ousmane Dembele, the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner, is likely to be absent this weekend due to hamstring. Joao Neves also has a similar problem, while Desire Doue may not play due to a calf injury.
In addition, Marquinhos is injured in the leg, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is suspected of having a thigh problem and was out of the Champions League in midweek.
Expected lineup:
Lille: Ozer, Meunier, Ngoy, Mandi, Verdonk, Andre, Bouaddi, correia, Haraldsson, Sahraoui, Giroud.
PSG: Chevalier, Hakimi, Zabarnyi, Beraldo, Hernandez, Lee Kang-in, Vitinha, Mayulu, Mbaye, Ramos, Barcola.
The match between Lille and PSG takes place at 1:45 am on October 6 (Vietnam time).
