Hopefully Ronaldo won't watch
Manchester United won 1-0 at Wolves on Sunday (29).8), but former captain Roy Keane hopes Cristiano Ronaldo... won't watch the match. Accordingly, right after the first half of the match at Molineux, the former Red Devils captain criticized the "b firm" performance of Paul Pogba and his teammates so he hoped Ronaldo would not witness that.
It was a disappointing half for Man United, because while the opponent created many scoring opportunities, they could not finish on target once. Therefore, Keane was not impressed with what he saw from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team and said that if Ronaldo had watched, he could have reconsidered his return to Old Trafford.
On Sky Sports, Keane said: They just rely on their talent as if they think that is enough to help them get through a game. They seemed to have just played a match in Russia in the European Cup, returned late early Thursday morning and could not walk.
They are still creating opportunities, but in terms of overall play, their body language is really blurred. The players are not doing their job well, with low-quality passes, no energy, no one moves without the ball, all of which are 5-a-side football.
My only concern is hopefully Ronaldo won't be watching because he will withdraw from the deal. It's really not good enough."
Controversy
Although Man United made changes in the second half to regain control of the game, the number of chances they created was still less and not as clear as their opponents. It is hard to believe that the home team missed such opportunities, and then had to pay the price with a goal.
Mason Greenwood scored the only goal, but it came from a controversial situation. Before Greenwood received the ball from Raphael Varane and scored, Pogba had a dispute with Ruben Neves. The French midfielder pointed his shoe at the opponent to prepare to shoot the ball, the collision was not too strong so the ball bounced towards Varane, then Neves reacted by falling down.
Speaking on Sky Sports, former coach Graeme Souness said that although the collision was not strong, Pogba's actions were dangerous, and "it could be a situation that leads to a broken leg".
Its a classic case of if I wanted to intentionally hurt someone. I'm not saying Pogba intended to do that, but that's how it ended. He was not close to the ball. How can the referee not consider it a foul? It is more worrying and alarming when a senior referee does not consider it a foul, he said.
Many cited just one day before referee Martin Atkinson showed a red card to Arsenal's Granit Xhaka for fouling Joao Cancelo (Manchester City), a strong action but the real impact was Xhaka's left heel - not his strongest attack. Furthermore, Cancelo was not in a shooting state, so he could limit the level of danger.
For Pogba, although there are few points of contact, that is his foot pointing straight at the opponent. Therefore, the controversy continued.
From the referee's perspective, Mr. Mark Clattenburg believes that Mike Dean is right when he has a perfect, unobstructed vision. See the replay and you will see Neves' extremely slow reaction. He saw the ball pointing towards a Man United player, looked at Dean, realized he was not getting anything, and then decided to fall down to try to solve the problem. In the VAR report, Stuart Attwell reviewed and found that this was not a clear mistake. For that reason, Greenwood's goal was recognized.
