Mohamed Salah could not hold back his tears on the day he closed the glorious journey that lasted nearly a decade with Liverpool, when the Anfield team drew Brentford 1-1 in the 38th round of the Premier League.
The match at Anfield was like a thanksgiving ceremony for Salah - who has become an immortal symbol of Liverpool since joining the club in 2017 under Jurgen Klopp.
Right before the match started, the stands were covered with banners for Salah. Prominent among them was a giant banner with the words: "From great to magnificent, Salah is our king".
In his last appearance at Anfield, Salah still left a familiar mark. In the 58th minute, the Egyptian star made an assist with his right outside foot for Curtis Jones to open the score. That was also his 120th assist in the Premier League.
Previously, Salah almost created a super product with his signature left-footed curling shot, but the ball found the post in the regret of the whole stadium.
However, fans still witnessed Salah's most familiar version. Those are the accelerations on the right wing, the sudden dribbling situations and the ability to stir up the opponent's defense.
The most touching moment came in the 73rd minute, when Salah was substituted amidst resounding applause from all Anfield stands. The Egyptian striker burst into tears, hugged his teammates, and raised his hand to thank the fans before bowing down to kiss Anfield's grass for the last time.
After 9 years, 257 goals and a series of big and small titles, Salah left Liverpool like a true legend of the Merseyside team.
