On May 23, the Ministry of Construction just sent a document to Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai City and relevant functional agencies on organizing traffic connection between the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway at the Long Thanh intersection. At the same time, adjusting the toll collection plan to put this intersection into operation from May 24.
The Ministry of Construction requests the Vietnam Road Administration to guide the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) to adjust the toll collection plan on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway while waiting for the completion of the synchronous toll collection system between projects.
The organization of toll collection must ensure safe and convenient exploitation, without loss or waste. Related procedures must be completed to officially organize traffic from May 24.
Regarding the long-term exploitation plan, the Ministry of Construction proposed that the People's Committees of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai City direct investors of component projects 1 and 3 to coordinate with Project Management Board 85 to urgently deploy the construction of toll station systems at component projects, ensuring synchronous connection and interconnected toll collection between routes.
Previously, on April 29, the main route of component projects 2 and 3 of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway was put into operation with the Bung Mon intersection for vehicles traveling from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway to turn directly to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway.
By May 18, the main route of component project 1 of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway was also put into operation, helping this expressway to operate the entire 54 km route.
However, functional agencies closed the Bung Mon intersection, making it impossible for vehicles traveling from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway to turn directly to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, having to leave the expressway, go down National Highway 51, and move to the Vo Nguyen Giap intersection (the starting point of the project) to enter the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway. This makes vehicles have to travel nearly 20 km more. Therefore, opening the Long Thanh intersection and putting it into temporary operation will contribute to handling this inadequacy.
