Casemiro has officially joined Inter Miami on a free transfer after his contract with Manchester United expired. However, this deal is becoming the focus of attention as the organizers of the US Major League Soccer (MLS) have opened an investigation into suspected violations of transfer regulations.
The Brazilian midfielder signed a contract with Inter Miami until the end of the 2027 MLS season, with an extension clause until June 2029 if visa conditions are met. However, his arrival at this team cannot be closed as the MLS is considering the negotiation process between the parties.
According to MLS regulations, the priority of negotiation (Discovery Priority) with Casemiro belongs to LA Galaxy. This means Inter Miami cannot directly negotiate with the former Man United star if they do not reach an agreement with the California club.
Although Inter Miami and LA Galaxy have agreed on the transfer of priority rights, MLS is still investigating allegations related to improper access to players before the two teams reach an official agreement.
In a statement, MLS said it is collecting complete information before making a final conclusion. The league also confirmed that the terms of the agreement between Inter Miami and LA Galaxy will only be announced after the investigation is concluded.
Besides, Casemiro has not yet been able to debut for the new team because he is waiting to complete the procedures for issuing a work visa.
At the age of 34, the Brazilian midfielder carries a massive record with five UEFA Champions League titles with Real Madrid, alongside the FA Cup and League Cup won during his time playing for Man United. He has also made 91 appearances for the Brazilian national team, of which the last 5 matches took place at the 2026 World Cup.
Sharing after signing the contract, Casemiro affirmed that he was convinced by Inter Miami's ambition and determination to continue conquering new titles.
