Brazil shockingly lost to Japan

Japan made a spectacular comeback to defeat Brazil 3-2 at home, after falling 0-2 behind.

The friendly match between Japan and Brazil took place on the evening of October 14, at Ajinomoto Stadium in Chofu, Japan. The home team is ranked 19th in the world, considered inferior to Brazil, the team is ranked 6th.

In the first half, Brazil played more aggressively and scored 2 goals to lead. In the 26th minute, Casemiro deposited a pass for Paulo Henrique to finish the first goal. Five minutes later, Lucas Paqueta technicalled the ball for Gabriel Martinelli to score to make it 2-0.

Before entering this match, Brazil was highly appreciated after beating South Korea 5-0, with the brilliant performance of attackers such as Vinicius, Rodrygo and Estevao. However, in the match against Japan, these stars did not show much.

After an unsuccessful first half, the Japanese team completely transformed in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Takumi Minamino took advantage of a reckless pass from center back Fabricio Bruno to score to reduce the score to 1-2.

This goal helped the Asian team feel more excited and scored 2 more goals in the 62nd and 71st minutes thanks to Keito Nakamura and Ayase Ueda. In both goals, midfielder Junya Ito - who came on as a replacement for Kubo in the 57th minute - contributed greatly with 2 decisive passes.

This result helped Japan defeat Brazil for the first time in history. In the previous 13 matches, the Japanese team has drawn 2 matches and lost 11 matches against Brazil - the team that has won the world championship 5 times.

For Brazil, this was their second defeat under the leadership of coach Carlo Ancelotti. They lost 0-1 to Bolivia before that. The number of goals they have conceded in this match is also higher than all 5 matches that Ancelotti has led Brazil.

The friendly match between Japan and Brazil is one of the two teams' preparations for the 2026 World Cup, taking place in Canada, the US and Mexico next year.
