On the morning of September 30, Thai authorities arrested 45 Cambodian citizens for allegedly crossing the border illegally through Chanthaburi province to find jobs.

According to The Nation, the Chanthaburi- treated special forces of the Royal Thai Navy in coordination with the Chanthaburi entry and exit police stopped the Cambodian group near Ton Madua Pass, Thepnimitr Commune, Pong Nam Ron District. Of the 45 arrested, 27 were male and 18 were female.

At the same time, three Thai citizens were arrested on suspicion of leading a group of people across the natural trail in Ban Laem Yai village. The suspects were identified as Harn Ratanaphan (43 years old), Den Luandee (32 years old) and Mongkolchai Plaengsome (26 years old), all residing in Pong Nam Ron district. They admitted to receiving 250 baht (about 200,000 VND) per person from a Cambodian woman to send illegal workers to Thailand.

The investigation shows that the three men plan to hand over the migration group to another Thai person, Chalermchai Plaengsome, in Ban Laem Mai village to continue taking them to other provinces.

The Cambodians told police that they had paid between 5,000 and 7,000 baht (equivalent to VND4 - 5.7 million) to be taken to Chanthaburi, Rayong, Chonburi, Bangkok, Pathum Thani and Nakhon Ratchasima for illegal jobs.

All suspects have been taken to the Chanthaburi Immigration Department for handling according to the law.
