Slovakia is the only team to beat Germany in this qualifying round and is also the team that has kept the most clean sheets in the group.
However, entering the "final" of the group, they were forced to play offensively and won right on Germany's field to get a direct ticket to the 2026 World Cup. Meanwhile, Germany only needs a draw to officially qualify thanks to a superior goal difference.
Germany still flooded up to attack instead of keeping the ball safe. The home team's mass crosses forced the Slovakian defense to continuously clear the ball to prevent striker Woltemade from jumping high to head the ball.
However, in the 18th minute, they forgot about Woltemade. No Slovakian was marking, giving Woltemade the opportunity to head the ball open after a cross from Kimmich.
Slovakia was forced to push up their formation. Just 3 minutes later, they almost equalized when Strelec escaped, but the shot was too light, enough for goalkeeper Baumann to react and save the goal.
Germany also immediately responded with great pressure. In the 25th minute, Gnabry escaped down in front of him but shot at Dubravka's foot. In the 29th minute, the Bayern striker made no second mistake, when he fired a low shot that killed the Slovakian goalkeeper after a pass from Goretzka.
The home team then continued to explode with the brilliance of the remaining two strikers in attack. In the 36th minute, Wirtz made a perfect cross from his own half, putting Sane up front and easily scoring.
In the 41st minute, Wirtz pressed to rob the ball with Woltemade right in the opponent's half, then from the left wing made a beautiful splash into the far post, creating conditions for Sane to complete a double.
One of the names coming off the bench, Ridle Baku, scored the fifth goal for the home team.
In the 79th minute, Assan Ouedraogo took only 102 seconds to make his mark. This young player ended a beautiful bounce with a skillful heel kick assisted by Sane.
In the end, Germany overwhelmed Slovakia with a score of 6-0, won the top spot in Group A and advanced straight to the World Cup next year. Meanwhile, Slovakia will have to enter the play-off round.
