On the morning of September 30, coach Kim Sang-sik announced the list of 24 players of the Vietnam national team preparing for the two matches against Nepal in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
The most notable point in the list is the appearance of 7 young players who have just shined in the U23 Vietnam jersey at the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian Championship and the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers, including goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien, midfielder Khuat Van Khang, defenders Nguyen Xuan Bac, Nguyen Hieu Minh, and strikers Nguyen Phi Hoang, Nguyen Nhat Minh and Nguyen Thanh Nhan.
They are all faces with great potential for development and are expected by the Korean strategist to become pillars in the near future.
In addition to youth, the team still retains experienced players to maintain professional stability. Bui Tien Dung, Do Duy Manh, Pham Xuan Manh, Nguyen Quang Hai, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Hai Long, Pham Tuan Hai and Nguyen Tien Linh continue to participate.
The combination of experience and enthusiasm of the young generation is expected to help the team create balance and flexibility in playing style, while opening up more diverse tactical options.
An unfortunate absence in this training session is goalkeeper Nguyen Filip, instead of Dang Van Lam's return to the goal.
The team will officially gather in Ho Chi Minh City on October 4. According to the match schedule, the first leg against Nepal will take place on October 9 at Go Dau Stadium (Binh Duong), while the second leg will be held at Thong Nhat Stadium on October 14.
