Midfielder Chau Ngoc Quang of Ninh Binh FC has just suffered a serious injury, and is expected to be out of action for at least 7 to 8 months. According to information from the club, he suffered a broken right knee ligament and will undergo surgery in Ho Chi Minh City on October 2.
The incident occurred in the match between Ninh Binh and Hai Phong on the evening of September 28 at 5 V.Leagues 2025-2026 at Lach Tray Stadium. In a collisionless situation, Chau Ngoc Quang fell while moving and was forced to leave the field after only 15 minutes of play.
Test results later confirmed the severity of the injury, which forced him to say goodbye to the season and miss the national team calls-ups, before that are the two matches against Nepal in October.
Ngoc Quang's absence is a big loss for the Vietnamese team, especially in the context that he is being used by coach Kim Sang-sik.
Since the Korean strategist took over the team, Ngoc Quang has played outstandingly thanks to his intelligent playing style, in line with his tactical philosophy. He participated in the 2024 ASEAN Cup and most recently the match against Malaysia with 90 minutes of complete play.
Previously, Ngoc Quang made his national team debut under coach Park Hang-seo in 2022, but was later not promoted by coach Philippe Troussier.
At the club level, he is an important factor in the Ninh Binh squad this season, after many years of being with Hoang Anh Gia Lai.
Long-term injuries have also made it almost impossible for the midfielder born in 1996 to participate in the remaining matches of the 3rd qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, which ended in March next year.
In the next few days, Mr. Kim Sang-sik will announce the list of national team gatherings for the FIFA Days in October.
