On the afternoon of January 2nd, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officially opened the training class for referees of women's and youth national football leagues 2026.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Head of VFF Refereeing Department Dang Thanh Ha emphasized the specificity and pressure of the refereeing profession, and affirmed that this is a job that requires perseverance, bravery and a high sense of responsibility.
He believes that the training course not only helps update professional knowledge, but is also an important starting point on each trainee's professional journey. To pursue and stick with for a long time, referees need to constantly improve their skills, improve their physical strength and maintain their bravery in all situations on the field.

On behalf of the VFF leaders, General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu acknowledged the silent but meaningful contributions of the referee team to the development of Vietnamese football in the past time.
According to Mr. Phu, competition management has made a significant contribution to the success of youth teams in 2025, when many teams such as U17 men's, U17 women's or U20 women's teams won the right to participate in continental finals.
In which, the role of referees is considered an important factor in ensuring the quality, fairness and professionalism of tournaments.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phu also said that immediately after the training course, a series of national women's and youth football tournaments will successively kick off in 2026. The dense schedule requires the referee force to have careful preparation both in terms of expertise and psychology.
VFF leaders expressed their desire for referees, especially young faces, to know how to take advantage of opportunities to accumulate experience and mature through each match, thereby making positive contributions to the sustainable development of Vietnamese football.

This training course gathers 66 trainees, including referees and assistant referees working in many different tournament systems. According to the program, trainees will undergo a physical fitness test on January 3rd before entering professional training content. The course takes place continuously until the end of January 5th.
