Currently, the advantage belongs to coach Kim Sang-sik and his team after winning 2-1 in the first leg of the final at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho). Therefore, with just a draw or a win against their opponents, the Vietnamese team will lift the championship trophy.
Despite being at a disadvantage in terms of score, the Thai team still has a chance to turn the situation around. The “War Elephants” have home field advantage and possess many quality players such as Suphanat, Supachok and Weerathep, and always know how to overcome difficulties and turn the situation around like in the previous semi-final match against the Philippines.
Notably, before the second leg of the final, Madam Pang added motivation to the Golden Temple team. The President of the Football Association of Thailand offered a bonus of 5 million baht (about 3.7 billion VND). At the same time, each goal scored by a Thai player in the final match was also rewarded with 1 million baht (about 740 million VND).
Previously, the Thai team was awarded 5.5 million baht after winning the right to participate in the final of the 2024 ASEAN Cup.
Thairath reported that the Thai team will receive more than 1 million USD in bonuses if they win the top spot at the 2024 ASEAN Cup. However, the above amount does not include bonuses from the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF).
