This list caused a big surprise when many new naturalized players were expected to not participate.
Previously, coach Peter Cklamovski called up more than 30 players, including many naturalized players and players playing abroad such as facundo Garces ( Alaves, Spain), Jon Irazabal (Sabah, Azerbaijan), Joao figueiredo (Istanbul Basaksehir, Turkey), Imanol Machuca (Velez Sarsfield, Argentina) and Rodrigo Holcado (America de Cali, Colombia).
However, not all of these names appear on the shortlist. Their exclusion without a specific reason surprised the Malaysian and regional public.
Despite the absence of many new players, the Malaysian team still has a formidable force. Familiar naturalized players such as Junior Eldstal (Sweden), Nooa Laine ( functional Finland), Endrick (Brazil), Romel Morales ( Colombian) and Paulo Josue ( br br br br brid).
Of the total 23 players, 15 are mixed or naturalized, showing Malaysia's clear direction in taking advantage of foreign-born player resources. With the current squad, Malaysia is considered stronger than previous tournaments, especially when the total transfer value of this squad exceeded 14 million euros, nearly three times higher than the Vietnam team.
The match between Malaysia and Vietnam will take place on June 10 at Bukit Jalil Stadium (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).
