Kharkiv is hit with unprecedented heavy attacks in the Ukrainian conflict

Russia launched a fierce attack on Ukraine's second largest city of Kharkiv in the early morning of June 7, killing at least three people.

In recent days, Russia has continuously launched large-scale attacks on Ukraine in response to the daring unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) campaign carried out by Kiev, paralyzing more than a third of Russia's strategic bombs.

According to a Telegram post by Mayor Igor Terekhov, the city of Kharkiv, located about 30 km from the Russian border, was rocked by at least 40 explosions on June 7.

Kharkiv is currently experiencing the strongest attack since the full-scale fighting broke out, Terekhov wrote.

According to the city's Mayor Kharkiv, Russia is simultaneously attacking the city with missiles, drones and aerial control bombs.

Video released by rescue forces shows a fierce fire at an apartment building in Osnovyanskyi district, southwest of the city, killing two people. Another person was also killed in the attack on a house in Kyivskyi district, north of Kharkiv.

The Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office said more than 50 drones, four guided bombs and one missile were used in the attack. An administrative building and a music school in the city were also damaged.

Russian attacks across Ukraine since the morning of June 6 have killed at least seven people and injured more than 40, according to data compiled by local authorities.

Meanwhile, on June 7, the Ukrainian air force said it had shot down a Russian Su-35 fighter jet in an air campaign in the direction of Russia's Kursk region.

A Russian military blogger confirmed that the plane was shot down and the pilot was rescued.

A day earlier, in retaliation for Ukraine's use of large-scale drones in strikes, Russia launched a series of UAVs and ballistic missiles across Ukraine, killing at least 6 people and injuring dozens.
