Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russian truck drivers who transported equipment for a large-scale Ukrainian unmanned aerial attack (UAV) to Russian fighter jets last week were accidentally involved in the incident.
In the Ukrainian attack, the drone was hidden in a mobile home with a receivable roof, loaded onto a truck and then deployed remotely to deploy the operation.
"They don't know anything. They just do their job," Zelensky said in an exclusive interview with ABC News.
Mr Zelensky noted that Russian drivers did not know that the mobile homes and other containers they transported were equipped with secret drones that could attack Russian airports and destroy military equipment worth billions of dollars.
Ukraine said it had damaged more than 40 Russian bombs in the strikes, equivalent to about a third of Russia's strategic bomb squadron.
The Ukrainian president also said that Ukrainian intelligence agencies "use only our weapons" and do not deploy equipment originating from allies' weapons depots.
"I would like to only use what we produce and have a clear separation," Zelensky said.
